Richard Mitchell is a native of California who graduated from the School of the Arts high school in San Francisco. He studied fine art, film and animation after graduation and traveled to Italy and Spain to further his knowledge of history and classic styles. Mitchell has been able to harness his diverse education and has produced art in a variety of media addressing many subjects.
Mitchell assembled, finished and detailed monumental sculpture while working in a bronze foundry and has completed numerous private commissions for individuals. He is a versatile artist skilled in assorted media including oils, water color, pastel, pencil, ink, photography, digital media, wood and metal working. His subject matter is as diverse as his interests reflecting his exposure to classic works of art, architecture and a profound appreciation of nature. He is an accomplished portrait artist, landscape painter and illustrator who always accepts new challenges.
