About the Artist:

Richard Mitchell, a native of California who demonstrated interest and talent in visual arts in early childhood, has won numerous school and community art contests.  By high school he was attending college level art programs at Pratt Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where he advanced his knowledge of classic styles and techniques in fine art. In 1997, following his graduation from School of the Arts in San Francisco, he was awarded a scholarship to RISD, where he studied Film and Animation with a fine arts focus.  During his years in Providence he studied Art History and Interior Architecture abroad in Italy and Spain.  Later, he continued his growth as an artist by learning the commercial and business aspects through his studies at the Art Institute of Colorado in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mitchell has exhibited and sold work to collectors in a variety of locations including, Albuquerque, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Jackson Hole, Park City, Prescott, San Francisco, Scottsdale and Toronto.  Although Mitchell is a versatile artist accomplished  in a variety of media he chooses to address subjects of interest by concentrating on specific areas of focus. This allows his subject matter to be varied yet cohesive. His work reflects his appreciation of classic drawing and painting, architecture and a dedicated interest in history.  He always enjoys new challenges, new opportunities and new directions in which to advance his work.
